Flow Machines

AI Assisted Music

When the website for Flow Machines, an AI-assisted music production tool researched and developed by Sony Computer Science Laboratories, was redesigned, I helped with art direction, UI/UX design, front-end development, and WordPress development. The redesign kept pace with the growth of Flow Machines' products and content.

For the website's art direction, I followed the color scheme of the product design being developed in parallel, while expressing objects evocative of "music" and "AI" in abstract form. At the first launch, little information could be made public, so the site used an audio visualizer and illustrations to show how Flow Machines co-creates with artists. This time, several tracks could be released, so I designed the UX around a "playlist" that visitors can listen to on the spot.

On the implementation side, I restructured the information so that what had been an almost single-page site became multiple pages, including new content, optimizing both access to information and SEO. The site also uses fluid sizing inspired by Fluid Typography, so the layout stays balanced at any screen size.

The CMS remained WordPress, and as with the existing content, I implemented an editor that lets the client create and edit content themselves. The site also meets Sony's high standards for web accessibility.
